Foliage in New England

To be honest, I really don’t remember the last time I was back in the States during the foliage season. I was back home for Thanksgiving last year but by then, most of the foliage was already gone. And before that, it must have been years and even at that moment, I don’t think I appreciated it as much as I do now.

The trip was planned for the third week of October with the first stop being Boston. And much to my surprise and a bit of disappointment, foliage was actually rare in sight. However, there is that lingering aura of Fall that we come to love so much about New England with the brisk cool air and the city´s beautiful scenery. So needless to say, I had a lovely time being back in the place where I grew up and went to school, visiting all the areas I used to spent hours at, all the while, enjoying the most precious moments with my family.

But to make up for that slight disappointment, the surrounding area where my family is, which is north of Boston and not much further from New Hampshire where I spent a day touring, was in full blooms. The colours were just spectacular and almost unreal to look at. The symmetry of it all looked so intentional even though it was purely nature´s undertaking. Time stood still and nothing really mattered at that moment, except for the tremendous view staring back at me. I could have stayed there forever, if only that spellbinding image of Fall, would as well…
